Mike Z and Steve Logan were friends since elementary school days (Southdale). Both were friends with "kids" like me who were not on the high end of the Fairmont totem pole. I'd run into them and we had good chats long after HS days. Miss them!
Mike and I grew up about four doors apart on Melrose Ave. which dead-ends into Hills & Dales Community Golf Course. I still have a picture of us at 5 years old in cowboy boots, cowboy hats and cap guns. Mike was one of the 2 or 3 best all-around athletes I have ever known. M.J. (my knickname for him - Michael Joseph) was supposed to go to Miami on a golf scholarship, but his dad, Bones, had a heart attack that summer and everything changed. I lost track of him after I graduated from Miami, and moved to Cleveland. He died October 30, 1988, and I for one would love to have him back. Dan Pierce
